Recipe / BOM Management
Define bills of materials (recipes) with ingredients, quantities, expected yields, and processing steps. Support single-output and multi-output recipes. Version control for recipe changes.
Production Orders
Create production orders against recipes. Specify planned quantity, start date, and work centre. Track status from planned to started to completed. Support partial completions.
Work-in-Progress Tracking
Track materials consumed and costs accumulated during production. Post WIP entries to the general ledger. Close WIP on production completion with variance analysis.
Quality Control
Define inspection templates with checkpoints and acceptance criteria. Record inspection results against production batches. Approve or reject batches based on QC findings.
Batch Certification
Certify production batches for release. Record certification authority, date, and conditions. Only certified batches move to finished goods inventory.
Yield Analysis
Compare planned vs actual yields. Track waste, scrap, and by-products. Identify production inefficiencies. Generate yield variance reports by product and period.
Worker Management
Track factory workers, their skills, attendance, and assignments to production orders. Manage shift schedules and labour cost allocation to production batches.

How it connects
Manufacturing consumes raw materials and produces finished goods. Every movement posts to inventory and accounting automatically:
- Inventory → raw materials consumed, finished goods received on production completion
- Accounting → WIP, COGS, and variance postings automatic on order close
- Procurement → material requirements trigger purchase requests when stock is low
- HR → worker assignments and labour cost tracking per production order
- Quality Control → inspection results gate batch release to finished goods
Controls and permissions
Batch Release Authority
Only quality controllers can release certified batches. Production supervisors can initiate orders but cannot release finished goods without QC sign-off.
Material Consumption Limits
Material requisitions are checked against recipe quantities. Excess consumption requires supervisor approval with documented reason. Variances are flagged for review.
Production Cost Lock
Production orders are costed on completion. Once closed, costs are locked and posted to the ledger. Reopening requires finance approval and creates an audit entry.
Audit Trail
Every production order, material requisition, QC inspection, and batch certification is logged with user, timestamp, and IP. INSERT-only records. No production data can be silently altered.
